Hello fellas, my visa/study permit got refused last year with the following reasons 1. Purpose of visit
2. Traveling history
3. Current employment situation.

I will like to re-apply by next year and will like to know some documents to include to fulfill the financial commitment part and whether or not, if it is advisable to use a sponsor's or personal bank statement or both , personal property (if any, examples of such) etc since I completed my undergraduate in 2012. And I'm single just in case. Thanks
NB. I'm a high school teacher, currently teaching in a public school in Ghana. And will like to apply for my Masters.

Hi Losangeles 101, I remember we applied together in 2017! I can't speak for others but I can let you know how I addressed the above concerns of the Visa Officer (VO).
1. Purpose of visit: The course you select SHOULD be a continuation of your past education and current work experience. There are exceptions to this, of course. But in general, they should be related. I had many years of experience as an architect in service and I applied for a Master of Architecture degree.
2. Travelling history: Especially for applicants from developing nations (like me, from India), you need to show travel history to first world countries...such as the US or UK. I believe this reassures the VO that you travelled to developed nations and have returned back without overstaying and thus, pose a lesser risk as an illegal migrant. If you haven't, then please make such trips if possible. Having more stamps on your passport will improve your chances exponentially.
3. Current employment situation: For this, you need to show the VO that you will return to your home country after the completion of your studies. In my case, I got a letter from my employer that I am a valued employee and that added educational credentials improved my employment prospects in my existing company. I also showed that my existing company was amongst the top 20 in the world and I would like to grow in the same company on my return. Or, you could even show that your particular profession is booming in your country and that you will certainly find a job upon return.

Regarding your query about finances, I would include documents from both, my Sponsor (to show I am funded) and myself (to show I have additional means to support myself under any circumstance). Personal property does not constitute liquid assets to fund your trip and education but it certainly shows 'ties' to your home country. So I would include it for that purpose. In my case, I included documents regarding my father's property, his death certificate and his nomination of me as an heir. I guess something like this shows a compelling reason for you to return to your country.
Hope this helps and I wish you the very best of luck with your application!

I think it helps.... I'll find ways around it to solve my situation....problem will still be the traveling history though. Also, what if I should receive a scholarship from the school... Will it be advisable I add a sponsor or use my own account?

Thanks

Well, I think it’s always better to show autonomous finances. I’ve seen way too many scholars with scholarship offers get denied. A scholarship offer adds credibility to your academic caliber but it is also usually contingent to consistent academic performance. In my opinion, it is better to also show other means of financing your self and clearly state so in your ‘Letter of Explanation’.

To add to the compelling reasons for my return.
Sure. But here are my thoughts on this issue. Is your business a profitable venture? Then yes, you could include it as it shall be an opportunity that you will want to return to. But this could be tricky, as it could also raise other questions for the VO. Who will handle it in your absence for a year or two? With a job, you are planning your absence together with the Company’s management, but it is not the same with a business.
If the business can remain unaffected in your absence for a year or two, then it could show that you are not critical to its operation. On the other hand, if your presence is vital, then it shall suffer when you are away and it shall lose its value thus not being lucrative enough to return to.
Again, just think through and explain your plan of actions in your Letter of Explanation.
