She doesn't need to show any specific amount of income, as long as she is not receiving welfare. However, she does need to explain how she supports herself and how she plans to support you for the next 3 years since she is not technically working and not reporting any income.

Hence, working illegally.
working for a private company/person and geting paid in cash is not "working illegally". technically, it's tax fraud/evasion since the income is not being reported. they are not one in the same.

Agree, it is not illegal in terms of immigration rules, but being paid by cash and not reporting income- is a tax fraud. Do not think CIC will accept either of it. :)

Your wife will have no problems sponsoring, as long as you both demonstrate how you will support each other.

However do note that if your wife doesn't declare her cash salary on her taxes, its illegal.

she doesn't have to be employed for 12 months, she needs to show the income she's received in the past 12 months. it doesn't matter how long she's been with her current employer. it is not a requirement for the sponsor to be employed.

lol..why do you guys all assume she does not report income? just cuz paid by cash.. what the..
lots of people are employed and paid by cash. from pizza drivers to tipped jobs. paper boys.. day labours.

being paid by cash isn't illegal; some people choose not to report.. CRA doesn't really enforce anyway.

yes, CRA does enforce, if they find out there can be serious problems

but the original poster in this thread didn't say that she didn't report, he said she just started working for cash this year, so her time to report this income to the CRA will be for her 2016 tax return

the CIC asks for your 2015 income tax return information which you need to get from CRA (and if you haven't filed your income tax return you need to do that), that is what you need to include with your PR application, and you can add an extra sheet explaining current situation if it has changed significantly from 2015

Can you provide me the link for showing income or tax return.
i'm not sure what you mean. there is no link. you need to read the sponsor's application and answer the questions about income. there is a specific question in there about how much income was made in the previous 12 months. there is required documentation needed for showing previous year's income (used to be option c, not sure if it still is) if there is no income, then there is no income. if there's no option c, then there's no option c. again, income is not a requirement to sponsor a spouse. CIC is using this information to see whether the sponsor has used welfare in canada before and/or if it's likely they would use welfare once the pr application is approved.

Thank you for giving valuable information.
you know? it took me almost 80 days for SA. i believe CIC might try to verify my income. I am self-employed person. in order to pay less payroll tax; i pay myself as dividend. so this way i can pay the lowest tax rate as a corporation..
it did take almost 80 days to approve my SA. i actually dont know if it's the reason of delaying; since CIC never asks me anything.
i did give them a copy of my dividend income and 2014 option C and 2015 tax return.
anyhow, it seemed to work.. they never ask me more detail stuff like business activities done by an accountant or something.
