Firstly, I'd like to mention that this forum is a treasure trove for Canadian immigration with an abundance of great information. I am looking to apply for Express Entry in the near future. I just received my IELTS score today, so I thought it would really help to seek expertise from the forum before initiating my application.

IELTS:
  • Listening: 7.5 (totally frustrated with the score)
  • Reading: 8.5
  • Writing: 8.5
  • Speaking: 8.0
    ----------------
    Overall: 8.0
    ----------------
Education: (both evaluated by WES)
Master of Science degree from a top-tier university in the US
Bachelor of Engineering degree(4 years) from India

Age: 25
Marital status: Single
Work experience: 1.5 years in India + 3 months(currently working) in the US (in the field of Computer Software)

Following are my doubts:
  1. I have read on the forum that an IELTS score of 8.0 would significantly help. However, it would be tedious for me to retake the test, given the time constraints that I have. Considering my overall profile, would you recommend retaking the test to improve my points?
  2. In my WES report, there is a comment on the report which states that my name differs in one or more academic records. Is this something to worry about?
(The reason for this is because my undergraduate record consists of my first name(with no last name), and my graduate degree lists my full name.)
  3. How would you evaluate my chances? I apologize for this rather silly query, but I need to get an insight from the erudite people who have assessed thousands of profiles?
Thank you in advance.

I would recommend you post your question to the Express Entry section of the forum rather than here.
