What I don’t also understand is how cic got mixed up with another person. Does it mean that the other person, who has the same name as you , also has the same birthday ?
Yes, this is likely what happened.
Yes, either my doppleganger and I have the exact same name AND birthdate... or they messed up the paperwork by including my birthdate with the other (same named) person's passport number and travel details.

I called the service agency first thing this morning. They acknowledged the error, and said my file was fine (though I imagine this mix-up is why my "decision made" status hasn't been updated). They told me to send back all the paperwork to the case processing centre (in Edmonton for me), that they left a note on my file about this for them at the processing centre, and I am not required to do any of the steps they required.

So, in theory, all should be well...

Hi folks,

Just an update on this,

After speaking with an IRCC agent on the phone, they did acknowledge the wrong documentation was sent / there was a mix-up in the mail. They advised me to send back the mistaken documents to my case processing centre (Edmonton for me), which I already did.

Just to make sure though, I added a cover letter stating the passport / name mix-up AND also included the documentation they were asking for, for the wrong me - just to cover all my bases! (they asked for entry / exit info from Korea - got my sister to do that for me over the weekend over there / copies of each page of my passport / flight itineraries). I had all that information / was able to get it relatively with ease - so thought might as well just send it in :)

Let's see what happens next...
