Request for passport - but decision "Not Started" in myCIC?

Hi guys,

I got a request to submit my passport this morning from CIC, but when I check myCIC account next to final decision it says Not Started. And when I track my application on the VFS website it also says application under process. What does this mean? Did my visa get approved or not?

I guess it's approved. Congrats. Sometimes the myCIC details and vfs details are updated later.

They cannot change it to "Approved" until they see your passport and stamp
visa. Think yourself - what if you send them someone elses passport or something else happens?

I applied on the 4th of May from Abu Dhabi (paper based application) - So application took 11 weeks and 5 days
I am 18, applied directly from high school (I did IGCSEs and A Levels)
IELTS 8.0
Applied to the University of Alberta


I was worried about showing home ties. I am Palestinian and I have no ties to Palestine so all I did was mention that I will be going back to the UAE after graduation to support my family. I believe if you have been accepted into a reputable university, you have good academic scores, a good ielts score and an SOP then you will get the visa. And ofcourse a sponsor to pay for your fees. (My sponsor is my mother). That's all I did and thankfully I got mine. Don't worry too much about the little details like I did.

It takes about 5 working days to change update the status of your mycic account.

The same thing has happened with me. I have been asked to submit my passport but myCIC account still shows the status as open and final decsion as not started

No - secondary students don't qualify for work permits.
