Request for new medical (before old one has expired)

Hey guys,

I got a message in my portal yesterday asking for a new medical. I had my original one done in March 6th 2020 so it should be valid until Mar 6 2021?

Has anyone else got a similar request? I presumed they were extending stuff like this (similar to how they handled biometrics) because of the pandemic and their extended timelines causing people's stuff to expire.

Am I just going to have to suck it up and pay the $300 for a new medical?

Unfortunately, yeah, you have to do it again. It’s the regional medical officer’s decision whether to extend your medicals or not.

If they requested it I think there is little you can do to avoid it. 280$ is about the standard...

Fair enough, thanks both. I managed to find a place that had a slot early next week so hopefully it doesn't delay my application too much. When I called a few months ago they said I was recommended pass so I'm hoping this is the last part they need to issue my COPR (fingers crossed)
