You can reapply with the same information later on

It's not clear what you are asking. If you cancel the sponsorship application then he cannot come to Canada through spousal sponsorship. He cannot reapply on his own without your sponsorship. The only thing he can do is apply for PR through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry.

Should clarify that I meant that if you withdrew the sponsorship application you could reapply for sponsorship at a later date using the same information. I may have not interpreted your question correctly
