Hello Friends,

I received my IELTS results today. I wrote IELTS on 24th Oct and so results were declared today online. I have still not received hardcopy TRF from IDP.

So, can I go ahead and report the score in EE profile? Is there high probability that scores in TRF might turn out different?

Also, I need to input TRF certificate number in the EE profile. I spoke to IDP team. They suggested that I append '5G' to the 16-digit TRF number which I see on results.ielts.org website. Has anyone done this before?

Thanks in advance!!

I wouldn't risk it. That TRF number is what CIC uses to verify IELTS scores. If that number doesn't match then you have a problem. And you can't claim IDP told you this would be the number. Whats the harm in waiting for the hard copy to reach you? It shouldn't take long.

Frankly, I want to update it just for today's draw :)

I suspect, like many others, that today is going to be another draw. With my scores, I reaching around 480.. so, want to take that shot.

I'm not sure you can do that because you need the TRF number in your EE profile.

Sorry pal

The number is easy to guess, it is formed of the following criteria:

The last two digits of the year + the short name of the country where you gave the test + Candidate number + Your last name's first three letters + your first name's first letter + the code of the test center + the module

For (James Kumar) who has given the general module test in Saudi Arabia in 2015, and who has the candidate number (003819) in the test center number 019,
his reference number is:

15KSA003819KUMJ019G

You can try your luck with this, and if you got the ITA and then you received your IELTS TRF and found out that there is a mismatch, you can safely reject the ITA and return to the pool (and fix your IELTS entry).

Thanks!! This was helpful :)

I had the same thought when I got my IELTS results online. I wanted to put it in ASAP, but I realised I needed the reference number, so I did not take the risk and waited for the paper copy instead.
If you do try 'guessing' the certificate number, let us know how that goes.

I found my TRF number online at <https>://results.ielts.org and it checked out to be correct when I received the hard-copy.

On hard copy of ielts test result, it says date - 25th may, 2017 (Ielts Exam date: 13-may-2017)however I got my online result on 26th may, 2017. And in express entry profile I have 26th may, 2017 as date of result.
Is it OK or not?

How did it go?
Was it after ITA?
Did you update the result date?

Guys, do not risk this.

The first two letters are year of registration, not year of test.

For folks who registered in Dec 2018, but appeared for test in Jan 2019, the TRF number would begin with 18, not 19.

It's not the first two letters of year of registration. I gave the test thrice. In my first two results, this number was 19 and in my 3rd result which i appeared in dec 2020, it was 20. So the first two letters are not exactly the year of exam or the year of registration.
