Reported passport renewal by raising CSE but no reply.

hey guys,

on 6th February 2019, my spouse (main applicant) and I received our passport request from <IRCC.CIO-BRCD.IRCC@cic.gc.ca which says to submit our passport at the embassy of Canada in Vienna. Since my passport was passing the 6-month expiration limit I received a renewed one on 25th of January and yesterday contacted CIC by using Webform in order to inform them about the matter and also uploaded the first page of my new passport. In the web form, I chose Vienna as the visa office processing our application and after submitting the form a page popped up that it may take 28 days till we receive an acknowledgment! Now here is the question:

1)Since our application was being processed in Canada the whole time, I should have chosen Canada instead of Vienna as the visa office processing our application? or should I inform them too?

2)We know that the deadline to submit the passports is 30 days, therefore is impossible to wait for their acknowledgment, so I'll submit my new passport along with a copy of my old passport, but what if they issue a COPR with my old passport number on it?

Just send them the new passport. They will stamp the new passport.

Yes it will have new passport number. My spouse had the same scenario. COPR had new passport number and visa was stamped without any issues. Many people advise to send both old and new passport but I didn’t want a scenario where they mention old passport number by mistake and hence sent only new one. There were no issues.
