Replacement of COPR

Hi All,

I lost my CoPR and applied for replacement VOS (verification of Status) back in august 2021 and still haven’t heard back anything yet..
Now that my Indian passport is expiring soon can I renew my Indian passport without COPR document??

Why do you need CoPR for renewing your passport? Where are you? Are you in Canada and want to renew your passport from the Indian embassy/consulate in Canada? If yes, why don't you have a PR card yet?

yes, am in Canada and want to renew my Indian passport. Filled out an application form and went down to BLS walk-in they said they cannot accept the application if the record of landing is missing and I do have PR card with me.

I am surprised to hear that. I don't know if this is required across all embassies in Canada. I thought a PR card should suffice as a proof of residency in Canada.

Yes Bls do require COPR to renew your passport to make sure you are not on refugee status but they only need is copy of your COPR check your email may be you have that in your email or somewhere else.

This is correct. My home country also requires proof of status to renew passport

Seems like you should be able to as per this post earlier in this thread,

In fact that was from before the new eCOPRs came out, so I imagine it's even more likely to be accepted - but either way let us know how it goes!

But I mean, a valid (e.g. undamaged) and unexpired PR card is proof of having PR and thus proof of status. Why is it explicitly coPR that's required instead of an unexpired PR card? B(Actually it would be best if they accept either...)
