Renting without credit history or job

Hi,

I'll be moving to Ottawa in July, and am wondering if there would be any issues getting a lease without credit history or job when looking for a place through Craigslist or Kijiji.

I rented a temporary place in Toronto through Kijiji without any issues. Have no credit history or job. All they cared is to have the first month upfront. I guess I was lucky and it's probably not that common, but it's doable. Usually if they need you to have a job they'll say so in the ad. I did some little introduction when asking to see the place, in which you can briefly relate that you're trying to settle in the city and are looking for a job. If they don't reply to that, well that's a reply of sorts. I guess that for longer stays it could be a problem though. As usual, just ask.
