Hello I would be moving to Toronto on 24 December 2016 along with my husband and a year old baby. Yes, it would be very cold I know but our visa expires on 13 Jan 2017. Can anyone suggest short term rental options? We have researched a lot but haven't been able to finalize. We want a short term rental one bedroom apartment without any sharing.

That's super easy, just look for a site called airbnb lots of short-term rental options in Toronto.

You might have to go further away from the city then.

That or be open to things such as basement apartments.

You guys appears to be almost in same boat as us.

We (myself, my wife and 1.5 year baby) has same situation.

So i have come early and my wife n baby are going to join later before i need to find a place. I will suggest you guys to do same.

Me and My wife also planning to come in Jan 2017, looking for an accomodation

Better know which location in Toronto you would like to move and rent instead of doing an airbnb. Try sites such as viewit.ca or walkscore.com

try finding a place for first week with a friend or a motel/hotel. Then search for your room. It might not be a good idea to lease/confirm a place without seeing. I ran into problems doing something like this.. but not in toronto though. Just an advice. Rest is up to you.

Sharma

Your best bet is an airbnb with good reviews if you want to avoid awkward surprises in the middle of the winter with a small baby.

You're absolutely not going to score any good rentals remotely/without meeting the landlord and seeing the site in person.

Airbnb has mostly shared kitchens n the unshared ones are quite costly

Not sure if you have already got something for your rental needs.

airbnb does have some listing for full apartments or basements.
Try looking for them and as someone mentioned, try looking in suburbs (Brampton, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke etc) which have good connectivity with Toronto downtown.

Other option is to seach using kijiji.ca. Looks for rental properties, talk to owners and line up some appointments post 24-Dec so that you can o and see them in your initial rental term.

The other option is motel, but they will be costlier and smaller than places you may find in airbnb.
Only thing to check is the reviews are good, talk to the owners and dont book for a long term. Try 1-2 weeks to start with and do your search once you are in here.
