Hello members,
I have a house in US for which I am still paying the mortgage and am working on H1B in Detroit area. I plan to move to canada as permanent resident, but will keep working in US and will be commuting daily.
Does anyone know if I am allowed to rent out my house USA and have rental income on H1B while I am canadian PR and living in Canada?

You can rent out your home on H1B in USA but have to report your rental earnings and expenses to IRS.

Similarly with CRA in Canada, you will have to report the home value on the date of final permanent residency when filing taxes and any rental or profit from sale would be taxable.

Rental income is passive income. You can earn it from any property while living anywhere. Just report it as income on your returns and pay taxes appropriately.
