Hi.

So my parents are going to visit family in Canada in about 2 weeks time. We were there with them in 2015, before ETA so there were no problems. Now with ETA, they need us to renounce our PR status, which we 'applied' for in 1998/99 when we were contemplating emigrating to Canada. That was 18 years ago, but still - they need us to renounce PR status before letting us enter Canada with ETA.

Problem is in the "APPLICATION TO VOLUNTARILY RENOUNCE PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS", point no. 7 - "The number on your Record of Landing, Confirmation of Permanent Resident or Permanent Resident Card". We never received a Confirmation of PR, nor PR card, only the Record of Landing, which is now stowed away god knows where - because this was from 18 years ago.

My parents are dead worried they won't be able to travel, even though everything is booked, from flights to rental cars..

So question is; is it OK to leave this blank?

Just put not available for anything do not have assuming this is as a result of applying for an ETA where you get 2 choices on a letter from IRCC , either complete a PRTD or Renounce then IRCC already know who they are.

Also will likely be quicker to print the renounce form fill it in, sign it, attach a photo . Then scan the completed form plus passport bio page plus helps to include a note highlighting that dont have specific dates or card/copr numbers , combine all three to one PDF.

Once have all that then create a MYCIC account (per individual) and link the ETA letter to the account which will then allow you to upload the scanned combined PDF. Once this done should get ETA through in a week or so but is cutting it close.

Apologies if you already knew above but has worked for others even those renouncing PR from 30 years past so they could get their ETAs and they for sure did not have any doc numbers or specfic dates.

If not replying to an IRCC ETA letter then assume is a paper application and not aware if they ever acknowledge a paper renounce being completed.

Yes, exactly! Thank you very much, we were leaning to doing it this way, and this just gave us some confidence!
