Renewing US visa, better do it in Canada or home country?

My family mmember has a PR card expiring in November , as well as a US visa (issued in the home country) expiring next July.
He needs to stay in Canada long term to meet the RO, but also need to prepare to leave Canada in case of emergency back home and come back via US boarder.

Which option will have a better chance to get the US visa renewed successfully:
a) Renew now in Canada while PR card is still valid, or
b) Renew in the home country when going back there in the future?
He meets the interview waiver requirements in both countries.

Thanks for your advice!

Sorry, I accidentally delete a reply about long interview wait time in Canadian cities.

My family meet the interview waiver requirements, so he can mail in his documents without the need to book an nterview.

Even though the officer decides to interview him after getting his documents, they will give a special interview booking channel, which normally have space within the next two month. So we are more curious about the success rate.

This is a question for a US immigration forum. Visa journey is a good one

The us visa is just a B1/B2 visa like most of us have. So just wondering from your experience/knowledge, does renewal of a visa from the same country as the issue country give one more chance of success? Thanks.

No idea. I don't need to apply for a B1/B2 to enter the US and have zero experience with this.

No problem. Thanks for replying anyway. Hope someone else can advice.
The officer at the USA consulate would know what a PR card is and how it relates to Canada , officer at the consulate in your home country may not know about it or take it into account when reviewing your account application

You are right.
However, he has been getting three us visa back home, haven't done any yet in Canada. So hard for us to balance which option will work out better.

But I assume you would answer truthfully the question in the DS-160 online form that you are a permanent resident of a country other than your country/region of origin (nationality)... So unless the officer at the consulate in your home country did not look or pay attention at the online form may not know about it or take into account when reviewing the application.

Of course, there is no need to hide the PR status. Actually, I think being a Canadian PR would be a plus when applying to US visa. It's just to see which is better, applying as a PR in Canada (but he hasn't apply for a US visa in Canada before) or apply back home country where he had successfully obtain the visa for multiple times.
