Renewing PR card while applying for citizenship

I am applying now for citizenship which may take 1 yr to process. My PR card expires in 8 months. Do I need to apply separately for a PR renewal at the same time.

Short answer is yes.

But you can only apply to renew your PR 6 months before it expires I think

Hi everyone. I have a question and I need some advice pls..

I sent my application for Canadian citizenship in November 2017. I have received an aknowledgement letter from IRCC that my application got delivered.

My PR Card will expire end of June 2018.

I’m travelling outside Canada on may 5th 2018 for about 20-30 days

Do I need to renew my PR card before I travel? Or can I do it when I come back to Canada?

Does applying for a PR card renewal affect my Canadian citizenship process or delay it?

It shouldn't affect your Canadian citizenship processing, as they are processed by separate offices. I don't know if you need to renew the PR card, that would be a good question to ask IRCC. I've seen they are very responsive when receiving questions on Twitter, maybe you can try that.
