Hello everybody!

So, I need a little advice about renewing my PR card. My card expired back in 2012 (when I was a kid) and for whatever reason, my parents never renewed my card. To make things worse, around 2017, my parents lost all of my documents showing proof of my landing in the country. When I turned 18, I wanted to apply for citizenship but obviously couldn't because of my missing documents and expired pr. I tried to renew my pr first but again, kept on running into trouble because of my missing documents. I read online that I can apply for a VOS (verification of status) and maybe use that for my renewal. My question is, will a VOS be an acceptable primary identity document? Also, on the VOS application form, it is asking for information about the passport of, I'm guessing, country of origin and I don't have that. Will my application be rejected if I leave that area blank?

Start with instructions and form, start checking there:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5445-applying-permanent-resident-card-card-first-application-replacement-renewal-change-gender-identifier.html

Yes, order the VOS.

There is a section there for those who don't have originals eg passports. This will likely take some time to track it all down. Short form: finding your original documents will save you time. A scanned copy or old photocopy is better than nothing. If you have your old expired PR card, that is a BIG advantage.

If you have to go this route, suggest you include a letter of explanation with any additional supporting info you can find (ID, school records, whatever) and note that you were a minor when this all happened.

See here:
In exceptional cases, if it is impossible for you to obtain any of the above, you must provide a:
copy of any identity document issued outside Canada before you came to Canada or
statutory declaration signed by you attesting to your identity anda statutory declaration also attesting to your identity signed by:
a person who knew you before you came to Canada (such as a family member) or
an official of an organization representing people from your country of nationality or past residence.
There are more details there on what you need to provide (including an explanation letter). That said, you were a minor and you're not the first to have had documents lost/destroyed.

If you have ANY docs (your UCI#?_), I'd even suggest you apply for the PR card right away and not wait for the VOS to come: apply for the PR card and include the copy of the VOS application and tell them you will send it as soon as you receive. (I believe IRCC will be able to access the info by computer before you will get the doc mailed to you IF you landed after about 2004*, which your age suggests was the case).

*I don't know exact year or date, sometime in early 2000s they stopped issuing records of landing and also computerized more. There is a date far enough back that they haven't even digitized some PR records yet (possibly ever?), but that is definitely before you were born.

Where do you see that? All that is needed is 2 pieces of evidence that the PR meet the Residency Obligation.
