Renewin Passport question

1. My EE app is currently in process. Can I renew my passport right now? If so, at what point do I need to tell CIC about my new passport

2. If I get a new passport, does it mean my old one is no longer valid?

If your passport valid less than 6 months you should renew it. In my case, I sent renewed passport to CPC-Ottawa-PR when I received PPR. No worry

I have to renew it also. So didn't you update them about renewing your passport before PRR? I was thinking maybe it's a good idea to send a CSE before PPR.

Yes, you can renew your passport at this time. If you have not got the ITA, update the EE profile with the new passport details as soon as you get it. If you have already received the ITA, you can submit the new passport details in the PR application. Just give a Cover letter to your passport (or explain in LOE) that you have old passport number in the EE application and the new passport in PR application (as you got it renewed recently).

Yes, the day you are issued the new passport, the old will be become invalid. In fact, the passport office will put the 'CANCELLED" stamp on your old passport when you will go for the renewal.

No, I did not updated but I sent passport+ 2photos+copy of PPR email along with letter of explanation.

Hi Friends,

I submitted my eAPR on 15th March 2016. Right now, waiting for FBI PCC.

Expecting to submit FBI PCC by mid July. Hoping that result of eAPR application would be available by mid-August.


My wife's passport is expiring in Dec'2017.
- Is that going to be problem in eAPR application ?
- What should I do: renew passport in India after hearing result of my eAPR application or
- renew passport after landing in September/October'2016 (in case I receive PPR)


Please point my to right discussion thread for this.
