Leon, I need one clarification
I submitted my file for sponsoring my wife. Her passport was expiring in August so she just renewed it. Do I need to notify CIC-M for this ? If I notify them , will they ask me to re-submit the form mentioning new passport number ? Because in that case, I need to get the signature from my wife and it will take time.

No, you don't need to re-submit the form for her. If her file is already at the visa office, then she can submit a copy of the new passport's bio-data page directly to the visa office. She just needs a cover letter explaining she has renewed her passport, and mentioning her name, DOB and sponsor's name and DOB and file number.

If you are still waiting for sponsor approval, it can wait until the file gets to the visa office, a second package to CPC-M is unlikely to be matched up with the first one based on how they are processed.

Thanx. i am still awaiting my sponsorship approval. so i do not need to inform them right now. but if they open my file say by end of august and found that the passport is already expired and i donot inform them abt renewal, then what will happen ?

They might send the package back, but I doubt it. Most likely the visa office will be the ones who request an updated passport copy from her.

we are sort of in the same boat, we sent out application in jan, approved in april and forwarded to mexico city. but now my spouse is renewing his passport as it has expired.

do you think they will request a new copy of the updated one before you get the PPR. or do you think they would assmue you renewed your passport and will just send them the renewed one with the PPR request...

You should really send in the new passport information voluntarily before the PPR, as it is a significant change to information they have on file.

okay.
unfortunatly getting a new passport is incredibly slow in Puebla,Mexico.
so we dont have an appt till August 10, but they do give the passport on the same day.
so we will send in the new information as soon as we get the new passport
thanks!

Just wondering, once you get your PR card the visa in the passport is no longer needed right? So getting a new passport once you have your card is ok?
