Renewal of passport during inland

Hi guys. I would need advise my husbands passport is expiring Mar2016 roughly 11more months to go. Is it right to renew it this month so that when it is our time for processing May2014 applicant we have a new passport? Base on the forums CIC is now issuing SA/AIPs on Jan2014 applicants. Our dilemma is the maximum processing time for our consulate in renewing passports in 3 months. We just dont like to be caught off guard without passport in our hands like if they decide to do a months application in one month time. Thanks.

Thank you Truesmile! Can I ask is inland the same as outland wherein they request for passport when they give you the visa? Or they just send you a COPR with your name in it?
