Renewal of Passport after Permanent Residency Application submitted.

Hi all,
I wasn't expecting an ITA for 6 weeks but I got one in yesterday's draw.

My question is:

I recently sent off to renew my son's passport which expires in July.

We are living in Canada so we had to send the form to the Embassy of Ireland in Ottawa - processing time in 5 weeks.

Can we include my son's old passport number into our permanent residency application and then update the number with CIC once we receive his new passport? I don't want to wait 5 ish weeks for his new passport to come back before we can submit our application.

Yes, you can apply now with old passport and later let CIC know about new passport through case specific inquiry, it's totally fine.

hello, apologies for jacking your thread OP.

We have a somewhat similar question, it's regarding passports.

My wife still has her maiden name on her passport, do we need to have it changed/renewed so we can be recognized as a family?

It's better to have it done that way.. but, not mandatory.
