Hello everyone,

I have open work permit that expires 15th Aug 2019, I came to canada on 1st August 2017 and started working since 1st Sep 2017 with UofT. on casual worker contracts.

I managed to get a Job offer, for 10 years, but without LMIA
I can't get the "Human Capital Priorities Stream" nomination, because I don't have a bachelor degree.

Is there a way to extend my work permit for 1-2 months so i would have 2 years of Canadian experience which will help a lot in my EE score?

I am happy to seek professional advice in Toronto if I can get affordable one (not the 200$ per hour please!).

All the best

You need an approved LMIA to be able to apply to extend your work permit and be able to count that work experience towards PR.

The only real alternative is if you manage to qualify under an LMIA exemption (e.g. are from the US and qualify under NAFTA based on your education) or qualify for an international program (e.g. IEC/Working Holiday Visa program) based on your country of nationality.

Just to add - based on your previous posts, you are here with your wife who is completing her Masters. If that's correct, then you would qualify for another open work permit if she meets all of these requirements: has successfully completed her studies as a full time student, has applied for her PGWP, has a job that is NOC A, B or 0 skill level and has started that job and can provide at least 3 pay slips to prove it.

That's exactly our plan B ... waiting for her to get a job offer and 3 pay slips mean that we have to wait after she graduates, get PGOWP, which means I will lose my work permit by then, I will have to leave Canada, and then return on OPW after she proves she is working. so i was looking for legal ways to stay, It's never my intent to over-stay my permit.

Thanks a lot for all of your replies, really appreciate it.

There's a very simple solution to that. You don't have to leave Canada. You can simply apply to change your status to visitor before your work permit expires. You'll have to stop working as soon as your work permit expires but will be able to remain in Canada legally as a visitor. Once your wife has a qualifying job and the pay slips, you can then apply for the OWP.
