Renew passport or wait for PP Request

Hi GUYS
Once they ask to submit the passport how long many days they give us to submitted the passport?I did medical 3 month ago.My passport is going to expire on april.Soon any time they are going to ask me for pp requst.If i renew my passport now,it takes 2-3 month to get one.On that time if they ask for passport request, do they hold if i told them i have given my passport to renew.

so should i wait for visa or give to renew my passport??

If your passport expire in april 2013 then your visa also expire in april 2013, if you have done your medical after april 2012. For maximum validity of visa make sure that passport must have validity beyond medical expiry.
