Hi guys,

I submitted my Sponsorship application for my Spouse a week ago (I am a Canadian).

Yesterday, without thinking, I went to renew my passport (my old passport, whose information is in my Sponsorship application, was cancelled at the Passport Office).

Did I make a huge mistake?
Do I need to worry, or should IRCC / CIC be able to check and see my new passport information on their end?

I'm aware about https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=052&top=4 which I will contact them as soon as possible after I have my new Canadian passport.

Nervous individual...

It's ok, just update by webform when you have your new passport. As you're sponsor then it is not a big problem.

I'm not sure they even care about the sponsor's passport, beyond using it as way to confirm citizenship - and for that purposes won't matter that it's been cancelled/renewed.

That said, probably still best to update just in case, certianly won't hurt to do so.

same. As it’s only a fact to confirm sponsor’s citizenship. What happens if they don’t want to travel internationally lol.
