Renew Indian Passport at Indian Consulate Toronto

Was your passport last issued/renewed within canada ? Mine was last renewed in US. Is it true that the renewal time could be as long as 2 months for applicants whose passport was last renewed outside of Canada ? Thanks.
How do you know the police verification is done? I just got an email saying it’s due.
It says
This is to inform you that Police Verification Request has been sent to the Police department (refer the following table for details) for your Passport Application (Re-Issue Passport Issuance under Normal scheme) submitted with File Number
what does police verification mean?I don’t live there anymore

No . it was a fresh passport issued from India. In fact, mine expired like 4 months back, I just forgot about the expiry date.
Hi all, I'm looking to renew my passport as I'm applying for my post-grad work permit, and was just wondering how long it took for the passport to arrive? The website says 2 months (8 weeks) and I need it urgently and thinking of applying for Tatkal

My passport is about to expire in 15 days (mid-July) and I am in the process of applying for renewal via BLS India (with Toronto Consulate). My passport was issued in India. As of today, I have followed the checklist and have collected all the required documents. Before I could submit I have the following doubts about the process:
1. I have created a Bank Draft of C$ 177.40 ($135/Passport Service Fee + $7.40/BLS Service Fee + $35/BLS Pick up & Drop Courier Service Fee) as per the quotation I got from - https://www.blsindia-canada.com/pptfeecalc.php. Do I need to pay again for generating a pickup label? (https://www.blsindia-canada.com/vas/pickuplabel/index.php)
2. Only original document I am sending is my current passport. Do I need to provide originals (other than the current passport) along with provided photocopies? (say the original Canadian DL which to serve as local/to-be-printed-on-passport address proof)
3. Is it true that we can apply for the renewal of Indian Passport, within 1 year after the expiry date?
I am trying to reach BLS India Helpdesk to get clarity on these doubts but there is a long wait and the call gets dropped after 5 minutes. (https://www.blsindia-canada.com/HelplineInstruction.php)
Any answer/related-info in this regard is highly appreciated.

Yes, you can apply to reissue passport within 1 year of expiry. you only need passport when you want to travel outside country. but as a foreign citizen, do realise that not having a valid passport means you cannot undertake urgent travel for ex. For family emergency back home or for any leisure travel.

I had a few questions:
1. I'm supposed to send a bank draft of the money to the Consulate General of Toronto, and was wondering if anyone knew if the Consulate is doing walk-ins?
2. If no walk-ins and to send to BLS Brampton, can I use any courier to send my passport to them or specifically Purolator? Please help!!
