Hi all,

I was recently surprised at finding out that professional occupations in religion are classified as NOC level A positions. I was a full-time Youth Pastor for three years, so I would definitely like to include this in my profile as work experience; however, I have a question for any experts on the subject out there: while my work for the church was full time, the church was very small, and it could only pay me as it was able (which was about $50/month). You could say my work was mostly volunteer, but I did receive this small amount per month, which I would usually use to pay my pastoral cell phone. Would I be able to add these three years of work experience as skilled work experience in my Express Entry profile? I know it needs to be full time and paid, but I don't know if they would accept this $50/month payment. If so, I would really like to add this to my profile.

Thank you very much in advance for any help!

Kind regards,
Victor

In order to count something as work experience, it either needs to be salaried or paid by the hour. Unfortunately what you've described is effectively volunteer work and can't be counted as work experience.
