When submitting my express entry profile, I did indicate that I have an aunt/uncle but not a brother/sister. so why is it asking me to upload family member proof of status? Is this even necessary, or normal for the system to ask? Not like I claimed points for this..so why should I prove it and why is it asking me :/

how can you prove that the person is your uncle or aunt? is a letter from them is enough?

If you did not claim points than it should not be asked , some times system is silly and asks for stuff irrelevant to application.

It's stupid to ask for a proof of something that would not benefit the applicant even if they lied!
like for CRS uncle points are not relevant, you get some points for admissibility if you have relatives in Canada but it's only a max of 10pts..If you studied in canada you already have those 10 pts

No, it's stupid for applicants to lie and expect that because they're not claiming points, they can get away with it.

Even if there are no points accrued, relatives in Canada can help applicants adjust to Canadian life better, and this can be considered in a review of an application where there may otherwise be a refusal for other matters.

I'm not suggesting that anyone here lied.

no it doesn't work like that. I applied for an ITA under CEC and i have family here but not siblings so basically i'm not getting any points on CRS for having family here but i will need to prove the relationship to the person i mentioned when i applied. I should of lied in the first place so i wont have to prove something that would be of no benefit to me.

the admissibility is calculated based on a few factors including Education, Language..etc and a category called adaptability. You should have a score >67 to be admissible to enter the pool for an ITA. the max you can get from adaptability is 10 points lol fo my case i studied in canada and i work in canada so i already have the 10 points but they also asked me if i have a family member in canada I didnt want to lie but I still get no point for having a family member.
