If I get a job that falls under skilled work but has nothing to do with my degree, does that matter when applying for the CEC?

I am aware that to be eligible for the CEC, I must have at least 12 months of full-time, or an equal amount in part-time, skilled work experience. What if I have two part time jobs from completely different professions? For example, working for environmental consulting firm part time and financial institute part time? Am I still eligible for the CEC as long as both professions fall under skilled work experience?

Please let me know!!

yes, you can apply.

As long as they come under skill 0, A or B. minimum 30 hrs/week total for 1 year...

job does not need to be related to your education

Yes, you are eligible.

however, if the job requires some sort of certification, and if you can't prove it to visa officer, if he gets some doubt on how legitimately you are doing the job which requires some skill-sets.. Then you may be in trouble..

You never know right, so i am just letting you know some options..

There was once post already with the same discussion.... I couldn't find that thread....

I don't remember exactly but I read a post in Forum where VO raised flag due to Work experience not related with studies. But that application probably was filed under before Jan 2013. According to current rules, they need only one year experience in NOC O, A, B.. studies shouldn't matter anymore..

It did not matter before, either. In the case you mentioned, that VO did not believe the the claimed experience was real, it was just one of several "red flags." And yes, some occupations do require certain skills and training, so obviously someone cannot just make up a fake letter claiming to have worked as an engineer for a year if they have no education/experience in that field...

Yeah if you have a degree in computer science but your work experience is for a medical doctor it might raise more than a few eyebrows.

But for instance I think someone like me, who never completed her degree in psychology/archaeology, my 4 yrs experience as a hotel manager is enough.

I hope :'(

How's about MBA with bookkeeper? I got BBA in finance-accounting in my country, came to canada to study MBA., got a job offer for a bookkeeper from a biggest restaurant in town.i read on internet that candidate is familiar with quickbook but doesnt need a quickbook certificate to work as a bookkeeper, and if the company can do training it should not be matter. i have accouting degree for 4 years from my country, and i used it to apply for MBA program. i studied MBA right away instead of taking pre-MBA. I know it is so weird to get a job offer and work such as bookkeeper in restaurant instead of some higher position with my degree, but there are lots of canadian people they couldnt find a job too. i got some interviews that they always require some canadian experience. i just wonder if they dont give me a chance to work, how i can get it. and when i mention about lmo, they refuse immediately. i need help asap.thanks
