I was just wondering, is it likely to be rejected after AIP for any reason other than late requested documents or negative medical/police check results? Hubby was asking a few questions and I was unable to give him a straight answer as I do not know myself. In our case, we applied Inland and no further documents were requested after AIP, the medical results were clean as was the police check from Turkey and Canada when we sent them in. We paid all the fees upfront as well. We did have a short courtship before marriage (9 months) but I figured that at this point, if we have been given AIP, our relationship was not under question any more or at least not the main concern.

Can anyone give some feedback so I might give my husband more informed answers other than "uhms" and "I don't know" ?

Thank you.

:)

Yes you can still be rejected from AIP for reasons that have nothing to do with missing documents.

AIP is supposed to be approving the sponsor. Not evaluating whether the marriage is genuine

Yes, I imagine the vast majority of time for AIP/Stage 1 is simply waiting for a VO to actually look at your file. Most of this time (around 10 months) is your file waiting in a big pile or other files.

So as far as I know, basically only a sponsor rejection will occur before AIP. Any applicant or relationship rejection, would happen after AIP.

Thank you for the information. :)

I would be lying right now if I said I wasn't having a panic attack, though. LOL

I would think negative DM after AIP for an Inland app is quite rare. Lots of people get requests for additional info (proof of cohabitation etc.) at the time they Would be getting AIP. So there must be a fair amount of checking of the app at this stage.

I wouldnt be stressing out too much if you were applying inland! That means u are with your hubby so you have to miss him or worry about the hassle of travelling to visit him. If you gave a full application package with proper evidence and nothing missing there is no reason why your application should be piled up on a bunch of other ones after its been reviewed or even denied for thT matter. I strongly believe if u dont lack evidence u will be approved asap. My husbands visa was approved 3 months after his application went in process. My visa office has a span of 19 months for processing. I truly believe it was because i made sure they didnt need to ask me for anything. No interview was requested either. The only thing i didnt do right away was pay rprf. I paid it a month after app was in process and his passport was requested 2 months later. My father sponsored his wife and kids and it only took him 3 months. Its all about how genuine ur relationship is and how complete your package is.

After AIP - your file either follows the "normal path", or get transferred to another office. If you get transferred - that's usually no a very good sign. If you haven't been told anything, and you just got the AIP, then you should be a fairly good standing... Inland first stage is, as the name says, an "Approval in principle" - and you're given a work permit if you asked for it. YOur file is actually looked at more in depth than first stage outland - and they do have a look at the relationship etc. If they had some doubts, they would have transferred your file to another office ( and you would have been informed of it) - so as things are now, I see no reason to panic :) if you're living with your husband in Canada, and have nothing specific about your relationship, there is no reason to worry ( I know it's easier said than done).

Good luck,
Sweden

Sweden, Sabrinkh, thank you so very much for your answers. I can't tell you how many times I would have panicked if it weren't for people like you guys helping out people like me. :) You have definitely quelled some fears! Hubby isn't worried about it at all, so I guess I'm just worrying for two people - with no reason to be.

I hope you all have a great week, you just helped mine get off to a great start. :)

Very rare, Also if your file was transferred to a local office before Approval that's the time they might need some clarification. Do not stress about it at all :)

Also the approval rate for inland apps is over 90%, and lots of those rejections have to do with eligibility and criminality issues. Unless there were very big red flags in the application, usually there is no need to worry about approvals.

Thank you both!

It's tough to not panic when you've been waiting for so long! I figured that if they hadn't transferred the file then I shouldn't worry. But I definitely do appreciate the affirmation! We've had no indication that there is anything wrong with our file thus far *knock on wood* and I know there's no criminality issues on either end. My main concern was that we sent a full application and didn't get DM with AIP.

Hopefully we'll hear positive news soon. :)
