My girlfriend has just been rejected because a Visa officer does not believe she will leave Canada. She was going to come see Canada at Christmas, and meet my family for the first time :( They cite financial reasons as the main cause.....This is a woman who works in an office making 35k a year!! :( If they reject her now, is there no chance she can come in the future when we apply for immigration? 35 000 is not enough? Does anyone have a similar experience or ANY advice on how it will be possible for her to visit. Please, it's very important. We don't know what to do :(

How much did she show in liquid funds (i.e. cash in bank account)? The equivalent of $35K CAD? Less?

What other ties did she show to her home country? Proof of employment? Proof of property ownership?

The rejection now has nothing to do with her ability to immigrate in the future. She can certainly still immigrate in the future.

ahh sorry to hear that...

I came from the UK and when i landed in Calgary i got taken into a back room and asked a lot of questions regarding my stay and finances.

I showed them my bank account print off with accessible funds and my credit card limit showing accessible funds.
I also had a letter from my boyfriend inviting me to stay with him in Canada and telling the authorities that he would take full responsibility for me financially and giving me a place to stay. He had all his information on the letter, address, work address, sin number etc etc
I had a letter from my employer stating my job was still open for me when i returned home.

Can i ask what country your girlfriend lives in?
I asked immigrations what they were checking for and they said they want to know for sure that a foreign person will be going home at the end of their stay and have they got access to money. Not how much your earning, how much money is accessible to you.

See if you can appeal the decision.

all the best
