Hello Everyone my file was recently rejected due to a very starnge reason.

I applied under CEC category and showed two years of skilled experience from may 2013 to aug 2015 but the immigration officer said my qualifying period started from jan 2014 and hence my experience was only of 1 year and 6 months while i claimed for 2 years.

My question is my point increased in the same time due to the additional points awarded to canadian education, and as far I remember it only asked for skilled experience and didnt mention the past three years or something, so if i remake my profile what should I put in my work experience?

Should I just start claiming my experince from march or april 2014 to aug 2015 which is one year that makes me qualified..?

You have to meet 2 sets of rules - one set for the program, and one for EE.

1) Minimum entry qualifications - for CEC, you have to have at least one year of full-time skilled work experience within the 3 years before you apply.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

2) CRS points - Skilled Canadian work experience within the past 10 years

I don't know when you applied, but it sounds like some of your 1 year of work experience was older than 3 years.

Can you provide more details about your work experience timeline? They might not have counted it if you work while in school or a job not in the right NOC category.

Hi,

I just had a query regarding the work experience. My wife is the primary applicant and we have recieved AOR on March 04th. Her work experience starts from September 2013 till date in SAME company. So as of now almost 3.6 years. She is into full time (45 hrs) per week from the beginning she joined till date. She joined as a Trainee > Assistant>Coordinator (Current designation). We have submitted a Certified letter from HR along with Roles and Responsibilities stating that she is a bonafied employee since Sep 2013 till date signed and sealed by her manager.

Hope this is enough for CIC to calculate her work experience.

Please advise..

But I still had an experience of 18 months according to the officer, he rejected me because he wasnt satisified with the claim that i had 24 months of experience as qualified experience.

My question is that how would you claim only one year of experience when you have of two?

So with only 1 year of work experience rather than 2 - how much did your CRS points drop and did this put you below the number of CRS points for that draw?

I think the officer sent the rejection based on your claim of 2 years of work experience. So, since part of the 2 years experience was beyond the 3 year eligibility, the officer recalculated your score for 1 year experience(1 year 6 months in your case) and since your score might have dropped below the cut-off for that draw in which you received your ITA, he/she might have rejected you.

I guess you applied in JAN 2017 and so you experience from may 2014 to dec 2014 was rejected as it was outside of 3 years.

show if i wish to reapply, I should only put experince from april 2014 to aug 2015? its more than one year so I should be fine?

But my refrence letter from my employer states from 2013, so would that be any issue? do i need to get a new reference letter?

Actually... upon re-reading this, I am wondering if the VO made an error, and evaluated the CEC application on the basis of the old rules.

For CEC, the minimum requirement is 1 year in the previous 3 years. You met that requirement.

But for CRS points, you can get credit for up to 5 years of Canadian experience, and it counts if it was in the past 10 years.

So the fact that some of your experience was more than 3 years old should not matter.

I don't want to get your hopes up, but you should submit a "Request for Reconsideration" via webform. Your case will only be re-opened if the VO made an error, and I believe s/he did in this case. You will have to explain why you think the VO made an error in the decision.

Can you link to the website stating that same thing?

Also is there any drawback or penalites for request for reconsideration?
