Hi, do you guys hear something about "regulated occupations" in OOPNP? I am a university lecturer CRS 426(is it the same as teacher? Not sure) and teaching is a regulated occupation. So my quesition is, can a person (who is not in Canada) with a regulated occupation really get an invitation under OOPNP? I was told by many people that it's almost impossible for a person like me to get invited just because of my career. How frustrating! I sent an email to CIC hoping to get an authoritative reply from them but no reply yet. Can you guys please advise? Thanks!!!

I am a teacher and receive PT from OOPNP.

The guidelines states that if you are in Canada working you must have license to be working in any regulated profession such as teaching.

If you are outside Canada, this is not applicable. However, should we get PR, we would need to get license from the Province we intend to work in BEFORE we can work in our profession.

Hope this makes sense.

Opportunities Ontario has an update regarding Regulated occupations and applicant's applying to Ontario's Express Entry from outside Canada.

>>> Regulated Occupations -
If you are working in a regulated occupation that requires mandatory certification or licensing in Ontario, you must submit proof of your Ontario certification or licence. You may wish to contact the Regulatory Body for more information about becoming licensed in Ontario.

If you are working in a regulated skilled trade that requires a Certificate of Qualification in Ontario, you must submit proof of your Ontario Certificate of Qualification issued by the Ontario College of Trades.

PLEASE NOTE: The above statements only apply if you are currently working in Canada in an occupation that is regulated in Ontario or you have arranged employment in a regulated occupation in Ontario.

If you are applying from outside of Canada, and you do not have arranged employment in Ontario, you are not required to send proof of certification, licence or a certificate of qualification issued by the Ontario College of Trades.

I hope this has been of some assistance to you.

Hi All,
That's not how I interpreted it. If you intend to work in a regulated profession in Ontario then you must be registered before they give you the 600 points.

I am confused!! Someone please help.

http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPQUESTIONS.html#display

It says,
To qualify for Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), do I need to obtain proper registration or trade certification if my occupation or skilled trade is regulated or requires certification in Ontario?
Yes. In order to qualify for Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, you must obtain the proper registration or trade certification if your intended occupation is regulated or requires certification in Ontario. There are many regulated professions and trades in Ontario. For information on these occupations, please visit our Useful Web Links section.

Please note that for some skilled trades, certification may either be voluntary or mandatory. Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program will only require you to obtain certification if your skilled trade requires mandatory certification. To determine if your skilled trade requires mandatory or voluntary certification, please visit the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities website.

The message clearly says a license is must to get PNP if you are working in a regulated profession. But what is given in the discussion, which is mail from ontario immigration clearly contradicts. Anyone here got a PNP without license?

Regads,
Sreejith
