Registered nurse (CRNE in Ontario)

Hi all!

I visited CNO in Toronto last week when I was visiting my boyfriend. I asked the woman behind the desk how long time it would take for me to know WHEN to do the test if I would like to/aiming for do the test in Oct. 2012. She couldn´t say, just told me to ask the university to send my papers with credit card number and I would get informed after that. An american nurse who was visiting the office at the same time followed me when I was leaving and she told me that she has been waiting over a year to do the test after payment..and she has got her education in the USA, and has been working there as a reg. nurse.

So, I was wondering, does it really take that long time to get the CRNE done if all the papers and payment are done properly..?

ANYONE, experience?

Sorry to tell you, but it does. My sister arrived in Ottawa in July 2011. She sent her application to the CNO the first week of August. They took three months just to tell her she filed the old app instead of the new one. So she applied again and they took seven months to assess all her docs, even though she sent those papers a year before and they just kept it on file. Then they finally made her eligible to write the CRNE in January 2012, but wouldn't let her sit for the Feb 2012 exam. So she applied for temp registration. They took so long, by the time it was issued, it was 2 weeks before the June CRNE. Now she's waiting for the results and praying that she passed. So you are in for a wait, My dear. Some of those people working there don't know what they're doing.

ya the normal assessment time they will take will be more than 12 months from the initial application date ( all international graduates application usually delayed becoz they send to third party agency to verify and assess) and thanks to some gate keeping rules they follow

for me the assessment took around 6-7 months and then i was given a date , this was way back in 2009 and since then I have postponed my examination 4 times already!!!
That was coz i was waiting for my PR to come, anyhow now I have decided to give the exam in October 2012. whether or not I get the PR before my exam date.

Basically , you have to give at least a year's time to the college.

I started applying to the CNO in november last year, and they finally told me in april that I had to send more proof of experience - I did that a month or so ago, and am waiting for a reply

I'm not holding my breath!
