Hi All,

I applied for PR from India with my spouse( who has a closed work permit in Canada) as dependent. He is in Canada right now and his work permit is expiring on 31st October. Also I have received the FILE NUMBER. Can someone tell me if he can apply for a bridge work permit considering the fact that I (primary PR applicant) am in India.

If applying bridge work permit is not an option for my husband then please suggest if there is another option that we can go for in order to continue his stay/job in Canada.

Thanks in advance!!

The primary applicant under FSWP, FSTP and CEC can apply for a bridging open work permit, and his/her spouse can consequently get one at the same time. Since you, the primary applicant, cannot apply for the BOWP yourself, I'm not sure if your husband can get one. Just curious - since he's the one already working in Canada, why didn't he put himself as the primary applicant? Was he not eligible to apply due to his work experience? Unfortunately, he most likely won't be able to extend his work permit without a new LMIA.
