regarding Transit Visa at London Heathrow Airport-plz plz help me

hi friends i booked the ticket in via.com from chennai to toronto on may 2nd via London Heathrow Airport, aftr amount transaction i got a call from via.com stating that i should have a transit visa for entering London Heathrow Airport , what i have to do should i apply for transit visa or i can fly with out transit visa, if it yes how many days it will take for transit visa processing in uk embassy, can u plz help me in this i am in tension mood , i cnt understand what to do...plz plz help me

Hi,
Few months back , my buddy flew from Kolkata, India to London, Heathrow airport and then Toronto.
And he was not asked for any transit visa.
Actually he got 24 hrs visa in London airport to explore London . As he had stay of 9 hours.

Is there any change of airport ??

If they mentioned that you need transit visa , then obviously you can't take risk to travel without transit visa.
Or book a direct flight Chennai-Delhi-Toronto.

if your halt at london airport is of more than 4 hours, you can get a transit visa valid for 24 hours and roam around. you just need to show your Canada visa and onward ticket for connecting flight. that's it. However, I would say if the halt is just 4 or 6 hours, don't go far from the airport as you might miss your flight.

is it a one way ticket, how much did you pay for it?

thnks for the reply my flight dep and arrv is different airport so that i want transit visa

bcaus for this i cancel my flight i booked for anthr flight

chennai-london(sam terminal) - toronto

though you changed your flight already i guess, but just FYI... at Dubai airport, if your halt is of more than 4 hours, there is a private lounge you can have fun at, unlimited drinks, beverages. good option to kill time there. Have enjoyed this in the past. and now if your halt is of more than 4 hours at london, then try to get out of airport and get some pics clicked, it's a nice view. but as said earlier, don't go far considering your halt.
