regarding SOP

i have applied for student visa for Canada....while applying i have submitted all the documents but not SOP
does that effect my visa
i got a mail saying my passport has dispatched from banglore to visa application center but i didn't get any mail whether i got rejected or not
can anyone help me here...what would be my result?
 
I think the SOP is helpful but not entirely necessary.
 
SOP is like an interview. In which you describe several points including purpose of vist , Why did you choose canada etc... I think it is important to send SOP along with documents

I would suggest to send SOP via Case Specific Inquiry form just to be safe! Good luck
 
I will forever write an SOP. In my opinion its quite helpful. It's an opportunity to convince a VO you know what you are doing. For example, if you are switching from soil science to language your visa may be refused because your background doenst match what you were trained in. so sop is an opportunity to explain that
