Regarding PR (Canada vs Quebec residency) for those who came through the Quebec Skilled Worker program

I had a question...i came here through the Quebec Skilled Worker program. Is there a requirement that in order to renew & maintain permanent residency status (while residing anywhere in Canada), one has to at maintain at least some years (within 5 year window) in Quebec itself before a 5 year window from date of arrival expires or when we have to renew the PR card?. I already spent little more than 10 months in montreal before shifting to toronto and contemplating if i should shift back to maintain the Permenant Residency status.

Furthermore, my reason for this question is regarding signing a document during the PR application stage which attested that i would settle in Montreal (those who applied through the Quebec Skilled Worker program will remember this document ) which i did initially but had to move to Toronto.

Any advice or guidance on this matter is really appreciated.

No, once you're a PR you can live wherever you want in Canada. This is a right guaranteed by Section 6 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. As long as you genuinely intended to settle in Quebec when you initially applied for PR, there's no problem.

Also keep in mind that your card is just a travel document. You remain a PR even after it expires, so you don't "renew" your actual status.

Thanks Primaprime for your reply....

This has been a stinging concern...as i always got mixed responses from law firms and they can not say 100% if this is an issue or not...

The cause for concern is that the Quebec Skilled Worker program is the channel through which i got the Permanent Residency. As a result, is there
a requirement to stay a certain number of years within a 5 year window to maintain PR status since i became a permenant resident through the Quebec Skilled Worker program?
