Hi There,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am reaching out to seek clarification and guidance regarding our PR application process and the potential extension of my Open Work Permit. Here is a brief overview of our situation:
1. My wife came to Canada as an international student, and I joined her as a dependent on an Open Work Permit.
2. She has successfully completed her course in Canada and is currently working in a NOC B job.
3. We are planning to apply for PR soon. As a family application, our CRS score is 485, but if my wife applies as an individual, her score is around 506.
4. By September 2025, my wife will have completed one year of work experience in Canada under a NOC B job, and our Open Work Permits are valid until January 2026.

Given this timeline, we expect that by September 2025, my wife will submit her PR application and might be under implied status while awaiting PR confirmation. My concern is regarding my own status. If PR confirmation is not received before January 2026, will I have the option to apply for an extension of my Open Work Permit based on her implied status or ongoing PR application?

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on the available options and any steps I need to take to ensure continuity in my work permit status.

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Bhupinder

Hello ,
From my understanding of this whole candian immigration process the whole process as follow:-
EE profile creation->Invitation to apply(depends on your score and work stream can take 1 week or months )
->Submit all documents you will get AOR(SAME DAY or 1 week max)->3-6 months (processing time includes complete verification of all documents and everything)
During this process if your work permit is expired you can are eligible to apply for bridge open work permit with your AOR.
Hope this helps.
