Regarding Police Clearance and Medical Exam

I am currently living in Canada, and I will marry my girlfriend in June 2013, and the ceremony will take place in her country.
Then after that, I want to sent my sponsorship application in July 2013.
Should my girlfriend do the police clearance, and medical examination now? The reason that I want to make sure about this matter is because I think If she finished those too early, immigration officials would think this is a set up of marriage fraud. And they may ask " why you planned everything in advance, before you get married? "

Should the police clearance and medical exam be done after the marriage? And how long are those 2 documents valid for?

Please give me Advice.. Thanks

well cic wouldn't find suspicion in when you do your medical so you don't have to we sorry about that, but what you have to worry about is the amount of time you application processing time is and also your medical has a 1 yrs before it expires so if you do it to early and you application takes 10 months or more than u might have to do it again and that will delay your app and the police is 6 months, so the best thing to do is do the medical a month before you get married and send the police clearance the same day you sending the application.

Medicals are valid for one year, but it takes a while to get the PR. So do the medicals as close to the sending date as possible.
If you are sure that you will have the application ready to send in July 2013, then do it just before sending.
Police checks need to reach CIC maximum 3 months ( not 6) after they have been issued, so you need to time these right. Depending on how many Police checks you need, and which country you need them from. FBI for example takes close to 2 months to get it back, so you might want to apply for it in May, so you can have it back in July to send with the rest of the application. Get familiar with everything you need, and how long it takes to get it, and make a timeline based on that.

Good luck,
Sweden

I doubt that they'd go against you or your wife, even if she did the medical examination and police clearance early.

However do keep in mind that the police certificate must not be more than 3 months old when you submit your application. And the medical exam results only have 1 year of validity.
Now is February 2013, and in July 2013, the police certificate won't even be valid anymore, since in July it will be 5 months old already.

As for the medical results, well since it's valid for 1 year, in July it will have 7 months of remaining validity. If your wife's PR application got approved before the 7 months is up, then it's all good. But if not, your wife will most likely have to do a second medical examination. Essentially by doing the medical exam now, you'll be wasting 5 months of its validity needlessly.

In certain countries, getting a police clearance can take a long time...(my Indonesian wife got hers in 1 month), so it's a good idea for your wife to process hers about 1 to 2 months before you plan to submit the application.

As for the medical exam, I think it's best to do it last minute....like a week or even 2 or crazy 1 day before you submit the application is fine as well, because it's really fast...at least for my wife, she came to the DMP's clinic, got the exam done in exactly 1 hour, and got the green slip (IMM 1017) right before leaving the clinic. We wanted to submit our application about 2 weeks after my wife did her medical exam, but we got delayed for another 1 month 10 days because the police certificate took so long to be released, and we're pretty pissed about it...and we feel that it's pretty likely that she will have to do a second medical exam...oh well...nothing we can do I guess... ;D

I don't understand, if the med exam has only 1 year validity, and if it expires during your processing, you have to send another one? But the police clearance is 3 months, and assuming an application takes 1 year to process, does that mean I have to send a new police clearance 4x?

Very good questions... :)

Medical exam: you only do the second exam when the visa office asks you for it. Even if they were to ask you to do a second one, it would be most likely near the end of the application process... i.e.: when everything else is fine and complete, except the medical has expired, and they want a second one just to make sure the sponsored person is still medically admissible...

And about the police clearance: no you won't have to send it 4 times...it's pretty much the same as the medical exam...get a second one only if/when they ask you to get it, which is most likely near the end of the process :). In your hypothetical scenario (them asking you to send the police clearance 4 times), the 2nd and 3rd certificates won't even be valid anymore at the end of the 1 year, so only the 4th one would matter. I don't even understand why they ask you to send it at the beginning, because most people get their PR in more than 6 months, after which the police certificate has long expired anyway... :p my speculation is, probably they do it just in case there are people who got approved really fast, like in 3 to 4 months... ;D

it's 2 different things... the issuing country might tell you that the Police Checks are valid for 6 months ( or 1 year in some cases), but CIC asks that the Police Checks are not older than 3 months. So the Police Checks have to reach CIC (it doesn't matter that they expire later on) within 3 months of being issued ( even if on the certificate it says that it's valid for 6 months etc).

I wonder what will happen to our application then. My husband's NBI clearance (like FBI in the US) was issued October 2012 and we sent our app Feb 2013.

you'll probably be asked for a new one once they open your file.
Good luck,

Hello Everyone,
We are applying For Fedral PR from within Canada under QSW category I have few questions regarding that if anyone can answer. Currently we are on work permit in canada so when we came here 3 years ago we did our medicals and police clearance. For applying for PR we need to do medicals and police clearance again? The one we did 3 years ago are obviously no more valid now.
My main question is applicants applying from within canada also needs police clearance and medical check?
