Hey Guys,

I just want to share with you one of my thoughts regarding January intake. An international student coming to canada gets his/her partime work permit (can work full time during 4 months summer vacation) only after 6 months. Now most of the people works fulltime (40hrs/week) during summer vacation and earn as much amount that is needed for the next year tuition fees.

If a guy comes in for september intake, he will get his work permit after 6 months. That is by March/April the study permit will be in his hand.
So that he can work full time during the summer vacation starting on May till Aug end.

But if a guy is coming for jan intake, he will get his partime work permit only by July/August. The whole summer vacation is gone!!!

Please correct me if i am wrong. I just wanted to bring this to your thoughts.

So guys out there, it is always better to opt for May or Sept intake rather than January.

Are there any restrictions on how many hours I can work once I receive my off-campus work permit?

Once you receive your off-campus work permit, you can work up to 20 hours per week off campus while classes are in session. You can work full time during scheduled breaks, including summer or winter holidays and reading weeks.

While classes are in session, you must be studying full time and retain satisfactory academic standing to keep your off-campus work permit.

o_O don't mind me asking. but how do people even earn the close to the full amount in 4 mths during the summer vaction for the next year's tuition fees?
i mean the usual wage for part time work is 10 to 11 an hour.

assuming its C$10 an hour...

40 hrs a week ==> C$10 x 40 = $400

summer vacation has 16 weeks right ==> $400 x 16 = $6400...

annual tuition fees are about 13 to 14 k CAD ....

ur calculation seems right ...i think its difficult to pay fees with the odd jobs....since u will have living expenses to cover during summer months.
working for 40 hours per week min through out the year would be required min . let say $6400 for 16 weeks right $700 living expenses per month means roughly 4 weeks so that $700x3=$2100 so 6400-2100=4300 is ur savings ..u can make roughly $17000 not counting any other expenses that i are hidden experts would know. so my take is u have to work 40hoursper week rest of the year and 60 hours per week in summer to make it.
thats just my thoughts
