Hi,
i already took the express entry eligibility test and passed. I just wanted to ask does 2283 NOC count game testers as well? can i mention it as application tester?
i read something here but did not whether understand it counts or not.
servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/qc/job_futures/statistics/2283.shtml

I have 1.4 years of game testing experience and want to move to canada - BC/toronto.
Yet to take IELTS.
I have done BCA and currently pursuing MBA F.Y.
I was thinking by the time i finish mba maybe the PR process will complete as well.
I am very new to this things have never ever applied for any pr or visa anywhere.
I might be visiting yaxis immigration consulting to guide me in the process but since you guys are already here i thought why not give it a try and see if i can do the process myself.
Awaiting your replies...

As a first step you need to get your IELTS and ECA done, so that you can create and submit your Express Entry profile. You can initiate both simultaneously. For IELTS you can either go with British Council or IDP. For ECA, there are a number of organisations designated by CIC; majority of them go with WES (World Education Services). ECA assessment by WES would cost you CAD 322. You can find more details about WES here http://www.wes.org/ca/required/index.asp?lctryid=2.

In fact, you do not need a consultant/agent to help you, the whole process is quite straight forward and forums like these are very helpful. The collective knowledge and awareness of the members on this forum far exceeds that of the consultants. In fact, some of the consultants get their answers from forums like these. If I were you, I would instead use that money for my nomination and other migration related fees.

If you follow this forum, you will be in a position to do everything on your own. Most of your questions would already have been answered by many experienced people on this forum and still if you feel that there is a blocker, post your question here, I am sure, people will be more than willing to help you. In the end the decision is yours, if you have the money and willing to hire an agent (and also if your case is a bit complicated and you need expert advise), you can go ahead. But after everything is done, you will feel, you paid them to you tell you things which are easily available on CIC, OINP sites, forums like these etc.

All the best!

Hey stanlee thx for the info.
It sure is a good idea that i should first give IELTS AND ECA but i am confused about the work experience as a game tester for 1.4 years.
Because in cic website while checking eligibility i said that it does come under noc (just for checking purposes did that) but i am myself not sure if game testing can be counted as application testing/software manual testing or game testing itself is counted in noc.
If that experience is not counted then express entry is a sure shot no go for me...because then work experience will be 0
Awaiting for your reply.....

While selecting the NOC, the duties and responsibilities mentioned in the NOC should be a close match with the actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you at the respective job. You need not match the duties and responsibilities word by word, but the idea is to have the closest match in terms of the spirit of the duties and responsibilities.

Also, NOC should be selected on the basis of the match of actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you rather than the designation match in the NOC list. If you are not sure of your NOC, write to noc@workingincanada.gc.ca with your duties and responsibilities, they will help you find the closest fit.

If you do not have any arranged employment with a Canadian employer while you are submitting your Express Entry profile, you do not get any points for this.

You don't just need a job offer in Canada to get the 600 points - you also need an approved LMIA from your employer. To get an approved LMIA, your employer has to advertise the job and prove there were no Canadians available to hire for the role. To be honest, I think it's unlikely you're going to find an employer willing to go through the LMIA process for a game developer job. This is the kind of job where there are far more qualified applicants in Canada than roles. I think it would be far more realistic to look for a technical support job - and even that will be very difficult.
