So you need to apply for a new study permit if you don’t want to study at the private school. Or come to Canada, and study at the private school for at least one semester and then change.

@Naturgrl, please what about if the private school is a DLI institution and the course pursuing is PGWP eligible?
So you have an approved study permit and want to change schools? Or you want to change and attend a private DLI that is PGWP eligible? Private DLIs are a waste of money, IMO.
I got study permit for private DLI and my program (MBA) is PGWP eligible.
Would I encounter any problem when I apply for PGWP after I've graduated?

Yet, I'll study for a semester and change my school to a public university.
A one year diploma would only give you one year WP which will make it extremely difficult if not impossible to qualify for PR. Study for 2 years to have your best chance to secure PR. You will need to reapply for a new degree unless you pay and attend the first semester of the private college which would be a waste of time and money.
