HI,

We are a family of 3 (wife, husband and 11 year old son). Please suggest wheather we would be allowed to stay in 1 bed (Single bed) apartment/house for initial few months of settlement.I am asking this because in USA we were not allowed this option due to "Fair Housing Law".
Please advise.

There is a anti-crowding law that states that no adult may share a bedroom with a child and a child can only share a bedroom with another child, same sex only if one or both of them are older than 5 and that no more than 2 persons may share a bedroom so according to that, your 11 yo. definitely needs a private bedroom. However, if a landlord is willing to rent you a 1 br. house for your family, it is very unlikely that someone will come to your home and start counting people and bedrooms.
