I just received an email from immigration Canada saying my application has been refused on criminality reasons. I am in the process of obtaining a record suspension. My open work permit is still valid and is for another 14 months. Can I remain on my work permit and reapply when my record suspension arrives?
 
Also can I ask to get my documentation back ie UK criminal record check so I don’t have to reapply for that?

I don't think that will help you as criminal record checks are only considered 'in date' by CIC for six months IIRC.
 
Only reason I’m asking is that my initial
application was sent back with missing info. When sent back my UK criminal check was already over 12 months old. I have been in Canada since my UK record was issued
 
I’m not criminally inadmissible as I have a valid work permit in fact this is my second work permit. I also went through secondary at Calgary airport. They let me in

You may still be criminally inadmissible. What was the charge? How long ago did it occur? What was the penalty / fine / sentence imposed and when did you complete it?
 
It was a summary conviction for dui in 2001 so the 5 years is well and truly up. Fine paid and driving ban completed.

Did you get the record suspension Was it approved?

Were you able to stay/to keep work until your work permit due date?
And would you mind let me know the steps to appeal it?
