Refused final result on citizenship test, not told oath date.

Everyone else at the test were happily told by the friendly agents that they passed the written test and that they will be scheduled for the next Oath in early december. Except for my wife, who was bombarded with questions about her criminal record, if she has ongoing problems with the police, if she had problems with immigration officials in the past and so on. She was then told that her application must now be sent on for review for a final decision and she may not (if approved at all) get in for the December oath. Everyone else in the test were simply congratulated and given their oath date upon passing the test and brief interview. When my wife tried to ask what was going on, why she was seemingly being singled out the agent refused to elaborate.

I cant find any information on this turn of events. All the information says at the end of your test you will be given your result one way or the other, yes or no. I can only guess her application was some how flagged for extra security screening? Didn't they have time to do this for the years we waited for them to process her application and the years waiting for her visa in the first time? She had to wait an extra year for her visa due to a super duper extra security screening, did the government somehow forget those results?

Also why even ask about criminal record or police, don't they have all this information? Why would they single her out for this sort of treatment when she has absolutely no criminal record or any interaction with the police? Is this a normal thing or something we should be worried about?

Maybe she shares the same name as someone who is a criminal. I know of this happening to some one. They are just going back and making sure.

Definitely some thing is wrong here. Especially the questions like "she has ongoing problems with the police" etc. indicates that her case file or security clearance has some thing to do with this. There may be a name matching issue here unfortunately, if she never had any issues with police or immigrations.

My suggestion is that you order an ATIP report to see if it helps with any clues or if you wish get a personal Criminal Record Checks through commissionaires to verify anything wrong.

I am not sure about how much both will be helpful; as I read some where that partial information is deleted in ATIP report. So please double check before you go.

First off, sorry to hear your wife had this experience. All applicants are asked about any prohibitions(criminal charges, etc) at the interview and again before they take the oath of citizenship.

Based only on what you've shared about her requiring extra security in the past, perhaps that's still the case now. It could be anything from her name(s) being a match to that of someone known to immigration/police/border services. Unfortunately, security matters are classified, so you may never know what it is specifically.

The forum can't assist you or your wife if you don't come straight....cic isn't dumb...if they saw something wrong with your wife security clearance they would Requested fingerprint....and for your info two persons can't have the same fingerprint.....::

If you ever being convicted or charged with serious crime, your application would be processed very long. Keep in mind that assault, drunk driving, over stayed, theft under $5,000, etc are considered serious. Then if you ever had this problem but didn't declare it in the application form, another problem emerged : dishonesty in filling the application form.
If you never had these problems, maybe you are just being unlucky that somebody with this problem has the same name and dob.

Maybe one or all of those on top of events in Ukraine results in extra scrutiny and delays at every stage?

Will the delay be a year like her last security check, or just some minor formality and she'll make the December ceremony?

I am very sorry for your wife' situation. However, go to the nearest police station to ask for a police criminal records. It takes two weeks to get the result that will eventually clean her name of any wrong doing. In Gatineau, this cost $64 in cash (no credit card). Once you get it, please send it to the CIC officer.

They didn't ask for any documents, they just said that her final approval may be delayed. There doesn't seem to be any action we can take other than waiting.
