So you applied for two different permits at the same time. If eligible for WP, it may still be approved.

What is your situation. Usually if restoring and applying for a work permit you lost status and cannot work until WP is approved.

Was this a PGWP? When did your permit expire the first time? You cannot work if refused and you have to restore status and reapply.

Before my PGWP expired, I applied for open work permit because i have an application pending inside sponsorship for PR from my spouse. The open work permit was just refused because my international passport was not valid for at least a year. Now I have renewed and applied to restore my status and for a work permit. I want to know if I will get anything from IRCC saying I can continue working till a decision is made.

So you are applying with AOR of inland sponsorship? You cannot work until WP is approved if restoring status and reapplying. You will not get a letter from IRCC because you cannot work.

You were told you had to stop working in October.

No because you are not eligible to work until work permit is approved.

You don’t qualify for an OWP now that you lost status. You actually never qualified for a OWP extension but the system allows you to apply for an extension knowing it will be refused. You needed to stop working when your WP was denied.
