What is the refusal rate for Buffalo applicants? I assume the main reason would be lack of evidence your relationship is genuine...?

Next to none? Refusals are rare for American citizens going through Buffalo. There are only 48 cases on CanLII where Buffalo is mentioned when you search "immigration, sponsorship, marriage and genuine". I'd have to read through them to see how many actually have to do with American citizens and not citizens of other countries being processed in Buffalo. Same thing with London, UK, and Sydney, Australia.

Remember that these countries have comparable standards of living, therefore it is extremely unlikely, so far as Canadian immigration is concerned and statistically speaking, that someone from one of these countries is marrying a Canadian to gain status under IRPA.

Relax, you have very little to worry about where that is concerned.

Thanks!
Im SUCH a pessimist. My husband and I only met twice before we got married (he stayed for 6 months when we got married), and for less than a month each time (first for two weeks, second for three weeks). I dont have a lot of proof besides his plane tickets and some undated pictures of our relationship before we got married.. but I have had my name legally changed, which reflects on my birth certificate, drivers license, etc... we signed a lease jointly, have a joint bank account, etc...
I just cant help but worry...

HI Sariss,
I too am sponsoring my american husband to move here... although we have been together for 4.5 years and can probably "prove" (i hate that word) that our relationship is more genuine than others who live in the same city im too am still really nervous.

just provide all of the details that you have... although you probaby cant write a 4 part novel that does not mean your relationship isnt genuine and that you and your spouse dont love each other sincerly.

We read a lot on these forums about negative situations which im sure is what instills a little bit of fear into all of us... fear is normal but stay true to yourself and focus on the main goal - you guys being together.

As i sit her frantically trying to throw together a time line for all the times my husband and i have seen each other over the last 4.5 years my mom keeps reminding me that i need to trust and have faith. So thats what im going to do!

Stay positive and before you know it you and your husband will be together soon....

best of luck :)

Stay positive guys! :) I'm sure you'll be fine. Just think "If a complete stranger saw all this evidence, would they mostly understand our relationship and believe we are a real couple?" If yes, you're good to go! :)

Look at ddrobro2's spreadsheet. Refusal rates are very low and if it's refused it's usually not because they think the relationship is not genuine.

My wife and I have been together since 2004 when I was in med school in the US. We also met online, in different cities. The longest time we have been "together" was 1 month when I was in her city doing a research project. Other than that we have taken trips to Asia together, etc. But most of our visits have only been 1-2 week stints.

I know this is a nerve-wracking time for all of us, but I think a lot of people are in the same boat as you. Nowadays, I'm sure a lot of Buffalo applicants are from people who met online, who haven't really lived "together" in the same city previously. But they probably won't reject you on that basis. otherwise, it would be reflected in ddrobro2's spreadsheet.

Refusal rate for spousal/conjugal partner/commonlaw applications through buffalo is 4%.

I really hope I won't be in that 4% :worried:

Interesting data. For statistical purposes, the 10 highest rate of family (spouse/partner/children) PR outland acceptance for the year 2010 (Jan 1 - Dec 31) by VO:
Sao Paulo - 98%
Buffalo (RPC) - 96%
Sydney - 96%
Taipei - 95%
Manila - 95%
Moscow - 94%
Buenos Aires - 93%
Damascus - 92%
Paris (RPC) - 91%
Rabat - 91%

10 lowest rates of acceptance:
Kuala Lumpur - 79%
Caracas - 75%
Nairobi - 75%
Abu Dhabi - 74%
Singapore (RPC) - 72%
Rome - 69%
Port of Spain - 65%
Port-au-Prince - 58%
Hong Kong - 56%
Accra (RPC) - 49%

----------------------------

More about Buffalo:

- 4% are denied (5% for those destined to Quebec, 4% all other provinces/territories)
- Disparity shows between visas issued and denied there's a larger number of visas issued than the addition of accepted and denied which means to me a big possibility that successful appeals are put in with the accepted.
- For Buffalo, if the difference between visa issued and accepted is accurately appeals, 5.5% of the total accepted PR applications in the aforementioned class are successful appeals.
- Between July 2010 - July 2011, Buffalo's refusal rate was 5% (8% for those destined to Quebec, 4% for those destined to all other provinces/territories)
- Processing times in Buffalo (for the aforementioned class) for all but the "80%" figure have slowed down by a month. For example, 20% were approved in 3 months in 2010, but between July 2010 - July 2011 20% were approved in 4 months, and so on up the ladder until 80% (11 month processing time) which remained the same.

Wow! Accra always the perennial rejection leader. In my estimation the most difficult embassy to deal with.

I've used the Open Data tool before but never got percentages like the ones above............so, IF the numbers below are correct, all I gotta say is: "Rabat.....91%?!?!?" I'm sure rjessome has some opinions about how realistic that sounds as well, no? :p

I would say it was pretty close for 2010. Don't recall seeing many refusals for Rabat in that year. I've been on the Morocco thread almost since it started and would guesstimate that there have only been about 10 to 12 refusals reported on there in over 4 years.

I've gone onto that link a couple times and tried to figure it out, but I can't seem to find the same refusal rate list that was listed. Can someone tell me where I go/type in to see what the refusal rate was for spousal PR from Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) visa office. Will it show? Santo Domingo only started doing visa application since January 2010 after the earthquake in Haiti... thanks.
