Hi all..

I had applied for visitor visa- family (visit my husband who is a PR) on 1st Nov, 2018 for myself and my mother in law online from New Delhi,India. on 6th Nov, 2018 (within 5 days- appreciated) i got refusal on the grounds that my purpose of visit was not clear to them and also because of personal assets and financial status. they stated that i have not satisfied them that i will leave Canada at the end of the stay and that i do not have sufficient funds to maintain myself in Canada during my stay.

although my mother in law got a approved to visit her son she is a retired govt employee receiving pension and funds were half of what i showed.

i do not understand where i went wrong. i am currently working/employed so gave my previous 6 months salary slips, ITR, appointment letter, leave approval letter for a month from the company, letter of invitation from my husband for both of us,purpose of visit letter or cover letter stating that i wish to be with my husband on Christmas and new year and also that i will be travelling with my mother in law who is a senior citizen and has never traveled international alone, bank certificate showing around 8 lakhs, relationship proof - marriage certificate , i traveled to Uganda recently so tickets and immigration stamping on my previous passport and all the required forms.

i have recently started and submitted my Spousal PR on 13/10/18 for which i have not received any communication just have the payment receipt number and the canada post tracking number which i mentioned in the purpose of travel letter.

also i had a previous visitor visa refusal for canada last year when i was not married stating lack of travel history as the reason for refusal.

kindly help what exactly should i do now.

Your TRV application would make it seem like you want to avoid waiting the PR processing time in India. That's why you were refused.

IMO, it will not help if you reapply. It would be best if you wait for your PR instead

thank you for your prompt response Braynna.. so does reapplying show that i am desperate or have extra eagerness to be in Canada with my husband ? although i am not trying to avoid the PR process... do people not get visitor visa while their Spousal PR is in process?

With two visa refusals (before and after your marriage), it might seem like a bit of desperation. It is also possible that you did not prepare your applications well even though you have strong ties + a good financial situation. BTW travel to Uganda would not help as travel history.

Yes, it is possible to get a TRV approval. That said, you have applied for PR about a month ago. Applying/reapplying for a TRV at this point in time would seem like you want to circumvent the processing wait time.

Are there any other dependent family members in your home.... or is it just you and your mom-in-law? IMO, in hindsight, it would have been better if you had applied alone first by indicating your mom-in-law as a family tie to return to
