job_seeker is right and there are also considerations of other kinds of deductions such as number of dependents, spouse's income, etc. It's not a "one size fits all" kind of thing.

Thank you for all the feedback ! :)

Do you guys claim the WITB ?

It The Maximum WITB payment for single this year is $944,
$1,714 for the family.

depends on your income.

If you are single, and your working income is is between $6,776 and $10,711, you will get WITB in your refund. The WITB payment is gradually reduced when net income is more than $10,711. No WITB is paid when net income exceeds $17,004.

For families, the maximum amount of WITB is paid if the family's working income is between $9,856 and $14,791 for 2011. The WITB payment is gradually reduced when family net income is more than $14,791 The WITB payment is reduced to zero once family net income exceeds $26,218.

Hi guys

I'm the one that still confuse with my tax refund year 2009. I worked for 9 months I recieved refund 132 CAD and comparison with my friend who worked 7 months she got 1,570 CAD (We're single). As I compared my T4 with hers, we paid the same rate of tax,cpp and ei. It doesn't make sense to me because it's so different.

I worked 10 months last year (taxable year 2009) and I got $1,830 refund (single) on a minimum wage in BC as $8 per hour; and for taxable year 2010 (I worked 4 months as single) and (8 months as married) for $9 per hour and I got a refund $1,955. I went to HR Block and they were the ones who did the computation. So if I were you try to go to HR Block and the $46 as charge is worth for the refund you will get.

She worked less time than you and therefore would have earned less money overall. So the amount of income tax she would be required to contribute would be less as well.

Thank you everyone, This is my saraly and hours of work between I and my friend

Me : work 40 hrs/week = 257.75 /week == 1031 /month ** tax refund 132 (worked 9 months)

My friend : work 40 hrs/week = 281.25 /week == 1125 /month ** tax refund 1570 (worked 7 months)

As I compare with my friend I get lower saraly than her why my tax refund that i got too much less than her? The question WHY WHY WHY still in my head. It's hard to understand. Does anyone tell me? ???

Because you worked for a LONGER period of time. You say what you earned AFTER deductions but you don't say what you earned BEFORE deductions. It looks to me that your friend may have earned (BEFORE deductions) just under the personal income tax amount ($10,320 for 2009) required to have to pay federal tax. You would have earned more than that amount so are required to pay federal tax.
