I am intending to make a refugee claim there, but due to the pandemic, I am not sure if the Canada Border Service Agency is going to process the application as before. And will they give me a eligibility interview right away? And if I don't have money, could they offer a quarantine for free?

If you have made your claim there, your sharing would be highly appreciated.
You can still make a claim provided you have the visa and travel authorizations required to reach Canada.

The eligibility interview will not happen right away. It may take more than a year for the eligibility interview to be scheduled.

You should request a work permit when you make your claim. Getting a work permit and being able to work is your best way of surviving until your claim is finalized. Until you get a work permit, you can rely on social assistance. However these payments are very low and it's difficult to survive on them.

Thanks for your reply. By eligibility interview, I mean the interview whether I am eligible to make the claim. Only after my claim is referred to the IRB, I can start to apply for the social assistance. Without the referring, I even don't have the necessary document to apply for it.
I think you are saying the hearing will take about one year to take place, right?
Yes - that's right.

Based on posts on this forum you may be waiting for months for an eligibility interview due to covid. Are you aware of the current travel restrictions? Do you have a TRV? Both make travelling to Canada quite difficult at the moment. You mention social assistance. People on social assistance are barely able to live on the amount they receive. Many are dependent on charity for food. I would be focusing on applying for a WP and getting a job versus qualifying for social assistance.
